Vibration felt in clutch and Gear knob - Used Ford IKON TDCI.

On a car reseller outlet, I got to test a used ford ikon tdci that done around 18000 odd km in the odo. Not sure if the odo was tampered.
Had the following observations. With clutch down, i cranked the engine.

    1. First impression was a very hard clutch
    2. Being a cold start, there was more than usual, clatter than for a TDCI.
    3. There was considerable vibration felt in the clutch pedal.
    4. There was even more vibe felt in the gear knob.

I wanted to ask here whether points 3 & 4 are typical TDCI behavior, i thought that engine is on par with refined units like the renault's 1.5 DCI, Toyota's 1.4 D4D and FIAT 's 1.3MJD. It was a disappointment for me. I did not drive the car further.

Our member Gemithomas will be the correct person to answer about TDCI as he is using a Figo 1.4 TDCI.

Thanks Sunil.. I tried a Hyundai Verna (old gen) crdi which had done some 68k on odo, it felt matured and sober, both the clutch and gear knob, how come a very less run tdci engine behave this way, its one gem of an engine is what i have heard about that motor.

probably the odo was tampered. there shouldn't be vibration and hard clutch on any 18,000 KM run vehicle.

Depends upon how the Car is being Driven ... If it was abused and thrashed
there would be a few signs of wear and overall the parts will loose its life

I had a clutch kit replacement on my ride very early due to improper usage,
Prevention is always better than Cure.

    Cheers
