How to reduce silencer leakage and damp sound.

    Friends,
I meet with an issue of cracking the welded joint and leakage of auxiliary silencer after the original one was replaced with an open market article. Actually the main resultant problem was with the little irritating and bit louder sound through the silencer (auxiliary pipe).
I made few clamps from iron/ms pipes of the appropriate size. As shown in the pic.
Removed the tightening clamp from the silencer joint.
Wrapped a thin aluminium foil around the leaking area (about 12-15 inches in length).
The foil cover was tightened using the prepared clamps.
The sound damped to a very considerable extent very near to the level of expectation.
Refer the pictures which are self explanatory.
Thanks for sparing your valuable time.

Thanks for the pictures and details. What kind of Alluminium foil did you used? How is it holding against the pressure of exhaust gases?
The pipes rot or rust from the water vapour present in the exhaust gases

    Dear Bpushpak,
It is normal furniture type alumiunium foil/sheet of higjrer gauge so that it can be easily and softly wrapped around.
No othe adverse effect is obser5ved till date.
